1. What Internet speed is required to access Medikin Online?
All processing takes place on Medikin's servers, backed by high speed, dedicated Internet lines. After processing on our servers, the result is sent to the Client's machine. There is no need for high-speed Internet connectivity at your end as many of our clients function with a 28kbps dial-up connection without any difficulty.
2. What dictation modes are available with Medikin Online?
All possible digital dictation modes ranging from toll free number and hand held digital recorders to in-house dictation systems are available for you to dictate on Medikin Online. Direct PC-based dictation systems with Elite built-in scanners are also available for hands free dictation.
3. What online features are available to me as a doctor on Medikin Online?
With Medikin Online, you will have better control of your files through features such as online audio and document archival, automatic and manual file uploading and downloading, advanced electronic patient record search module, online billing, Turn Around Time and account activity reports, dictation status monitoring, document delivery through auto email/fax, file rejection ability, and report approval through the e-Signature feature.
4. What online features are available for me as a medical records officer of a hospital/clinic on Medikin Online?
The medical records officer gets a centralized login ID and password to monitor the work of all the doctors belonging to that particular clinic/hospital/group. You can perform various activities on behalf of your doctors such as automatic file batch upload and download, template uploads, monitor the dictation status, search patient records, reject transcribed reports, generate an online billing report, and Turn-Around-Time and account activity reports.
5.What is the complete transcription procedure on Medikin Online?
Within approximately 5 minutes of your dictation, either on digital recorder or toll-free number, the audio file is available online for transcription. The MT vendor will receive an e-mail notification of the file upload with details including your name, audio file name and type, and more. The file is then distributed automatically or manually to a waiting transcriptionist. As per the work distribution settings, the file will automatically go from MT to QA1 to QA2 (if required) and then returned to you. You can monitor the entire procedure online and assign files to different transcribers/editors at any stage of transcription.
6. As a medical records officer, can I create doctor accounts and how much time does it take?
No, generally you cannot create the doctor account; instead you have to approach the Site Admin for this purpose. But if your hospital operates on a large scale with in house dictation and transcription systems, you will be given the authority to create and modify the doctor, mt/qa accounts. You can also link doctor accounts with different MT vendors if a part of the transcription work is outsourced. It normally takes 2-3 minutes to set up a new doctor account, as there is no software/hardware setup required.
7. How secure is Internet transmission on Medikin Online and what about HIPAA issues?
Medikin Online uses 128-bit encryption technology for file transfer, which is the same encryption standard used by today’s banks and financial institutions to transfer sensitive financial information. All transactions and transmissions are secure but please refer to our HIPAA compliance policy for more details.
8. Can Medikin Online be integrated with our existing in house dictation system?
Yes, the Medikin Online platform can be easily integrated with your existing in house dictation system. Your dictations can be picked up from your dictation set up and document files can be delivered back to your in house document management system seamlessly.

Medikin Online Enterprise stores audio dictations and transcribed reports online for the contractual period. They can be retrieved using your ID and password. This eliminates the need to maintain a paper copy of records since they can be retrieved, edited, printed, faxed and emailed online.

Medikin Online’s platform is a web based solution and thus does not require any specific hardware or software at any user machine. Users only need a browser (Internet Explorer version 5.0 and above) and an Internet connection. Medikin Online Enterprise is only a platform on which audio and document files move from doctor to transcriptionist and back again, so no changes in normal dictation and transcription practices are necessary.
