Medikin Privacy Policy

We recognize that the privacy of your personal information is important to you, and it is important to us here at Medikin. To demonstrate our commitment to the privacy of your personal information, we have developed this privacy policy ("Privacy Policy"), which discloses Medikin's collection, use, and disclosure practices with respect to personal information collected through our web site at www.Medikin.com (including both our public web site and the web site reserved for registered users - the "Restricted Web Site").

(1) Information that may be collected.

  • (a) Information collected on the Medikin public web site: Visitors to the Medikin public web site at www.Medikin.com may chose to contact Medikin to obtain additional information about Medikin or its services. If a visitor voluntarily contacts Medikin, Medikin may collect the visitor's name, email address, and any other personal information provided by the visitor (such as address, company, phone number) ("Visitor Information"). We may also collect personal information from visitors at other points on our web site.
  • (b) Information collected in connection with the Medikin Restricted Web Site: To participate in Medikin's Internet-enabled transcription services through the Restricted Web Site, you must execute the Medikin Internet Transcription ASP (Application Service Provider) Agreement and complete our Service Registration Profile. As part of this registration process, we ask that you provide us with certain information, including your name, email address, credit card number, fax number, occupational specialty, and telephone number, as well as your business name, business address, tax identification number and any Authorized Customer Designees, as that term is defined in the Medikin Internet Transcription ASP (Application Service Provider) Agreement (collectively, "Registrant Information"). In addition, through your use of the Restricted Web Site, we obtain certain personal information about your clients ("Client Information"); however, we only obtain that Client Information that you provide to us in your recorded dictations.
  • (c) Client Information: Information pertaining to the Medikin's customers client is known as Client Information, and is collected by Medikin when you (Medikin customer) dictate in your dictation information or details about your clients like Patient/Client name, address, medical/legal case information or any other detail about them in the dictation.

    (2) Who Collects the Information?
    Medikin Incorporated owns and operates the web site at www.medikin.com, and all information is collected by Medikin Incorporated.

    (3) How We Use the Information We Collect From You and With Whom We Share It?
    We use the personal information we collect to help us provide you with the Medikin services. In particular, we use the Visitor Information to respond to your requests or inquiries. We use the Registrant Information to fulfill your transcription, file routing and electronic storage requests; bill you for the Medikin services; administer and maintain our Restricted Web Site and related services; and correspond with you about our Medikin services and offerings and your use of the Medikin services. In order to provide these services, we may disclose the Client Information and certain Registrant Information to third parties to perform the transcription. In addition, we may share certain other Registrant Information with third parties that help us in administering and delivering the Medikin services. For example, we share your credit card information with a third-party credit card processing company. However, none of the third parties with whom we share Registrant or Patient Information are permitted to use such information for any purpose other than to fulfill the specific service or transaction. We may also disclose the Patient and Registrant Information with third parties in the context of a merger, acquisition, or sale of substantially all of our assets to such third party.

    (4) Controlling the Collection, Use and Distribution of Your Information.
    You can control the content of the personal information we have collected from you by following the instructions stated below in section 5. Although the privacy of the personal information you provide to us is very important to us, due to the existing legal regulatory and security environment, we cannot fully ensure that this personal information will not be disclosed to additional third parties other than those disclosed in this Privacy Policy. For example, we may be forced to disclose information to the government or third parties under certain circumstances, or third parties may unlawfully intercept or access transmissions or private communications. Additionally, in the unlikely event we need to investigate or resolve possible problems or inquiries, we can (and you authorize us to do so) disclose any information about you to private entities, law enforcement or other government officials as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate.

    (5) Correcting and Updating Your Personal Information; Closing your Account.
  • (a) If we maintain your Visitor Information, you can access, update or modify it by sending an email to support@medikin.com. However, for verification and security purposes, before we allow you to access or update your Visitor Information, you must provide us with all forms of personal information that you seek to access or update. You can access, update, or modify your Service Registration Profile using the procedures made available on the Medikin Restricted Web Site. However, even if you change some personal information, the original information may still be stored on other databases (including those kept for archival purposes).
  • (b) With respect to Client Information that you have provided to us, we do not maintain a separate database of this information, but such information is contained in the transcribed documents that we make available through the Restricted Web Site. Through the Restricted Web Site, you can access, update or delete the personal information in these transcribed documents in accordance with the terms set forth in the Medikin Internet Transcription ASP (Application Service Provider) Agreement.
  • (c) If you want to close your account and no longer receive Medikin services, you may do so in accordance with the procedures set forth in the Medikin Internet Transcription ASP (Application Service Provider) Agreement.

    (6) Our Security Procedures.
    We have established and maintain reasonable security procedures to protect the confidentiality, security and integrity of your personal information and the Patient Information. We use Secure Socket Layers, encryption, and firewalls to protect the security of your personal and credit card information; the servers on which personal information is stored are kept in a secure environment; and we implement off-line efforts to further protect this personal information, including limiting employee access to such information and updating our employees regarding our security practices and privacy policies. However, please recognize that "perfect security" does not exist on the Internet.

    (7) Changes to Medikin's Privacy Policy.
    Medikin may amend or change this Privacy Policy at any time without prior notice. We will post any revisions to this policy on our web site at www.medikin.com, so that you are aware of these changes. Any visitor or registered user who provides additional personal information after these changes are posted will be deemed to have accepted the revised policy. If we decide to use the personal information you provided in a manner different from that stated at the time we collected it, we will send you an email notifying you of such changes and giving you the choice of whether to allow us to use the information you provided in this different way. Without such consent, we will use personal information in accordance with the privacy policy under which it was collected.
